Trump lied more than 30 times during the debate, the German Foreign Ministry ridiculed him

During the debate, the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump, made more than 30 false statements, while his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, lied only once. These are the results of the preliminary analysis, held by CNN.

“Trump has once again made a staggering number of false claims, some of them outright lies, on topics like abortion, immigration and the economy.”, — writes a channel.

CNN analysts found that Harris made only one outright lie, but several of her statements were either taken out of context or raised some doubt. At the same time, The Washington Post calculated that Trump made four times as many false or controversial statements compared to Harris. The article points out that while Harris has sometimes embellished the facts, her level of misinformation is nowhere near Trump’s.

Among Trump’s most high-profile false statements, CNN singled out the following: he claimed that there was no inflation during his presidency (although cumulative inflation was about 7.8%); spread a fake about “abortion after birth” and also baselessly claimed that migrants in the state of Ohio allegedly eat domestic animals. In addition, Trump falsely claimed that he had completed the construction of Nord Stream-2, lied about the increase in the crime rate in the USA, and also twisted the facts about financial aid to Ukraine from European countries, saying that the USA provided more support (in fact, European countries provided more aid) . He also accused Joe Biden, without evidence, of opening criminal cases against him and of ties to China and Ukraine. One of the most notable misrepresentations was the false figure of $85 billion that the US allegedly left behind in military equipment in Afghanistan after the withdrawal, when the real figure is about $7.1 billion, and some of the equipment has already been decommissioned.

Trump also falsely claimed that Kamala Harris met with Vladimir Putin days before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and claimed that Harris was in charge of border policy, which is not true.

In addition, during the debate, Trump criticized Kamala Harris for her intentions to switch to renewable energy sources, citing as an example Germany, which he said has allegedly failed to completely move away from fossil fuels.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany responded to this, noting that more than 50% of electricity in the country is already produced from renewable sources.

“We are closing, not building new coal and nuclear power plants. We will abandon coal by 2038”, the ministry said.

The sarcastic comment about Trump’s statement about migrants who allegedly eat pets in the state of Ohio also did not go unnoticed by German diplomats. They jokingly added: “We don’t eat cats and dogs either”.
