F-16 for Ukraine: Politico found a problem with the transfer of fighters

Kyiv plans to use F-16 fighter jets to counter Russian ballistic and cruise missiles, which requires a large number of high-end air-to-air missiles. This is causing concern among NATO member states, as many of them do not want to part with their expensive weapons.

About this informs Politic.

Although the US and some NATO allies have the missiles Ukraine needs, Kyiv’s new requests could put a significant strain on their stockpiles. The countries of the Alliance are currently discussing who and in what quantity will be able to provide Ukraine with these missiles.

The newspaper also notes that several European countries plan to transfer more than 60 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine in the summer, which could help push back Russian forces. However, the US believes that this will not fundamentally change the situation on the battlefield.

Earlier, the Institute for the Study of War reported that the different positions of European countries regarding the permission to use the F-16 for strikes on the territory of Russia could complicate the planning and implementation of military operations by the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
