Fico blamed Zelensky for the “gas crisis” in Slovakia

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that the actions of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi could cause a “gas crisis” for Slovakia. About this informs Reuters.

During the summit of the European Union, the prime minister raised the issue of the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine, which Kyiv refuses to continue after the end of 2024.

“We are clearly facing a gas crisis thanks to President Zelensky”, – noted Fico, without specifying the details.

Later, he added that Slovakia may consider possible retaliatory measures in the event of the cessation of transit of Russian gas.

Previously, Fitso had a conversation with Zelenskyi regarding this issue. According to the Prime Minister, he inquired whether Ukraine is ready to ensure the transit of gas other than Russian. Zelensky, Fico claims, ruled out that possibility by asking whether Slovakia could agree to use gas to finance the war.

Fico also said that he discussed this problem with the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, stressing that the suspension of transit could lead to an increase in the price of gas.
