Trump announced a large-scale project for the development of artificial intelligence in the United States
US President Donald Trump announced the launch of the Stargate initiative, a large-scale project with the participation of OpenAI, SoftBank and Oracle, which involves investing up to 500 billion dollars in the development of artificial intelligence infrastructure in the US. About this informs Associated Press.
During the presentation at the White House, Trump said that at the initial stage, investments of 100 billion dollars are planned, with the prospect of increasing them to 500 billion over the next four years. The project is aimed at building large data processing centers, in particular in Texas, to support the development of artificial intelligence technologies.
“This monumental undertaking is a resounding declaration of confidence in America’s potential under a new president”, – said Trump.
The event was attended by Masayoshi Son, CEO of SoftBank, Sam Altman, head of OpenAI, and Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle. Project partners also include Microsoft, MGX, Arm and NVIDIA. The joint venture will be headed by Masayoshi Son.
Trump emphasized that Stargate will create “the infrastructure for the next generation of AI technology,” which will include the construction of large data centers. The president also said that the initiative will create about 100,000 jobs in a short period of time and ensure the technological advantage of the United States in the future.
Sam Altman called Stargate “the most important project of our era.” The initiative will initially build a data center in Abilene, Texas, which is already under construction, and then expand to other states.
