Former head of the SBU department in the Kharkiv region, Roman Dudin, accused of treason, was released on bail

Roman Dudin, the former head of the Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region, accused of treason, was released on bail. About this reported Dmytro Bespaliy, head of the NGO “Public Movement Independent Ukraine” on Facebook.
“Ex-head of the Kharkiv Oblast SBU Department, Lt. Col. Roman Dudin, was released on bail.
This is just the beginning. There is justice!”, – he noted.
Earlier it was noted, that the amount of the pledge is 5 million 330 thousand hryvnias. Dudin is still in custody, and this information was confirmed by his lawyer Oleksandr Kozhevnikov, who said that Roman Dudin was allowed to remain in custody, but with the right to post bail.
“The court left the preventive measure in the form of detention, but added an alternative – the possibility of bail. There was no such option before, but now the court decided to grant an additional preventive measure in the form of bail. This means that if the bail is made, Roman will be released from in custody, at the same time he undertakes to appear at court hearings, hand over his foreign passport and fulfill other requirements”. Kozhevnikov said.
The decision on the preventive measure was appealed in the Kyiv Court of Appeal. The defense presented evidence of Roman Dudin’s innocence in the crimes charged against him and emphasized the incorrect qualifications of the prosecution. The court agreed with this and decided to provide an alternative in the form of bail. Meanwhile, the case continues in the Shevchenko District Court of Kyiv, where the parties have already reviewed written evidence from the prosecution, and now plan to present their own evidence and call witnesses.
We will remind you that Roman Dudin headed the SBU Department in the Kharkiv region since March 2020. In February 2022, before the start of the Russian invasion, he declared reliable protection of Kharkiv region, noting that the SBU monitors the situation on the border. However, on February 24, Russian troops entered the north and east of the region, approaching Kharkiv. On May 29, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, fired Dudin, explaining that he “was not engaged in the defense of the city since the beginning of the war, but was thinking about his own interests.”
After his release, Dudin began publishing videos and statements criticizing the head of Kharkiv OVA, the military and other officials. In September 2022, the Prosecutor General’s Office detained him on suspicion of treason and voluntarily leaving his post during martial law.
On July 12, 2023, it became known that the case of the ex-head of the SBU in the Kharkiv region was referred to the court, where the investigation established that Dudin knew about the preparation of the Russian offensive and, instead of fulfilling his duties, engaged in actions that contributed to subversive activities against Ukraine. The hearing of the case began on July 31, 2023 in the Shevchenkiv District Court of Kyiv.
