Former NSA employee sentenced to almost 22 years in prison for trying to pass classified information to Russia

Jared Sebastian Dahlke, 32, of Colorado Springs, pleaded guilty to six counts of attempting to transmit classified national defense information and was sentenced to 21 years and 10 months in prison.

This is reported US Department of Justice.

Dahlke, who worked as an information security systems developer at the NSA from June to July 2022, used an encrypted email to transmit extracts from three classified documents to a person he believed to be a Russian agent.

In fact, the man turned out to be an FBI agent working undercover. All three documents that Dahlke tried to pass on were marked “top secret” and were obtained by him while working at the NSA.

The convict motivated his actions by the fact that he needed money and believed that the information would be valuable for Russia. He was asking $85,000 for all the information he had and planned to hand over more data in the future.
