France to transfer robotic demining systems to Ukraine

The French company CNIM Systèmes Industriels, in cooperation with the Estonian Milrem Robotics, will hand over six robotic ROCUS systems based on the THeMIS platform to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES). About this reported in the official press release of Milrem Robotics.

“We are proud to continue to support Ukraine under the contract with CNIM Systèmes Industriels. THEMIS installations have already proven their versatility and reliability in various operating scenarios in Ukraine and beyond.” – noted Milrem Robotics CEO Kuldar Vyaersi.

The ROCUS system combines the French CNIM demining module with the Estonian THeMIS autonomous tracked platform. Thanks to remote control, operators can carry out work to clear areas of explosive objects without risking their own lives.

The THeMIS platform is equipped with sensors and cameras to detect mines and other threats. The demining module allows you to safely neutralize these objects. The system is able to work effectively in difficult conditions – on rough terrain or in the destruction zone – which makes it an important tool for the restoration of destroyed infrastructure.

Currently, Ukraine has already received 15 THeMIS platforms, including the first 7 ROCUS units, delivered as early as 2022. The new systems will help ensure safe access to roads, fields and communities affected by hostilities. The main operator of the equipment will be the State Emergency Service, which will use it for humanitarian demining and restoration of liberated territories.
