Ukraine

From June 1, electricity for the population will become more expensive by 64%

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution on increasing the price of electricity for consumers from June 1, 2024. The cost of electricity will increase by 64% and will be UAH 4.32 per kWh. Information about this decision reported people’s deputy Oleksiy Kucherenko and adviser to one of the members of the government.

Key facts:

  •  From June 1, the electricity tariff for the population will increase to UAH 4.32/kWh. The government abandoned the previous plan to introduce a differentiated tariff depending on the volume of consumption.
  • The current tariff does not cover the cost of electricity production, which leads to losses for energy companies.

It is noted that the Cabinet of Ministers last increased the tariff for the population on June 1, 2023, to UAH 2.64/kWh including VAT.
