The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the Documentary Heritage Protection Strategy, which will become a key basis for preserving national identity and statehood. The document is designed for the period until 2027, and also includes an operational action plan for 2025-2027. About this reported permanent representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk.

“The Government approved the Documentary Heritage Protection Strategy as a guarantee of preserving national identity and statehood for the period until 2027 and approved the operational plan of measures for its implementation in 2025-2027”. – the message says.

The main goal of the Strategy is to create a modern archival system that will meet national and international standards, take into account the needs of society and effectively respond to challenges, in particular those that arose due to Russian aggression against Ukraine. The document is aimed at the modernization of archival management, strengthening of historical memory, integration into the international cultural space and introduction of the latest technologies.

The strategy was developed with the participation of experts from archival institutions, scientists, the public and experts of the SURGe project, who provided recommendations on improving the effectiveness of management. Its implementation will take place in 2025–2027 under the control of the State Archives Service of Ukraine, which will annually report to the government on achievements and propose additional measures to improve efficiency.
