$2 thousand for a place in the cemetery: the head of a funeral service in Kyiv region was caught on bribery
The head of the funeral service of a municipal enterprise was detained in Vyshhorod district of Kyiv region while receiving a bribe. The man demanded $2,000 for booking a place in a cemetery. This was reported by the police of the Kyiv region. The detainee faces up to 10 years in prison.
‘Inthe Vyshgorod region, the head of the ritual service of a municipal enterprise demanded a bribe of $2000 for booking burial places in a cemetery owned by the community,’ the press service said.
The official, a 48-year-old resident of Kyiv, was detained while receiving the money. During a search of his office, money and a mobile phone were seized.
Criminal proceedings have been opened over the receipt of an illegal benefit by an official. The detainee was served a notice of suspicion, and the court imposed a custodial measure of restraint on him.
As a reminder, law enforcement officers uncovered several other illegal schemes in Kyiv. In particular, a resident of the capital is suspected of offering to help re-register cars at a territorial service centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for a fee. Also, an assistant to the head of the Podil district recruitment centre was detained for taking a bribe, offering to help a draft evader avoid mobilisation and fines.
