“I want to end this damn thing”: Trump spoke to Putin on the phone and discussed the end of the war

US President Donald Trump said that he had a telephone conversation with Putin during which he discussed the possibility of ending the war in Ukraine. He announced this in an exclusive interview New York Post on board Air Force One flight time.
When asked how many times he had contact with Putin, Trump answered evasively: “I’d rather not say.”
He believes that Putin “really cares” about the death of people on the battlefield.
“He wants people to stop dying. All these dead. Young, handsome soldiers are dying. Young men like my sons. On both sides all over the field. Two million dead – and it’s all meaningless.” said Trump.
According to him, the war, which has been going on for three years, would not have happened if he had been president in 2022.
“I have always had a good relationship with Putin, but the situation was different with his predecessor. Biden is a disgrace to our nation. A complete disgrace. I hope that the end of the war will be quick. The war in Ukraine is terrible. I want to end this damn thing.” – emphasized Trump.
Addressing national security adviser Mike Waltz, who joined him on the plane, Trump said:
“Let’s organize these meetings. They want to meet. People are dying every day.”
It will be recalled that Trump wants to conclude an agreement with Volodymyr Zelensky for the amount of 500 million dollars, which concerns access to Ukrainian rare earth minerals and gas in exchange for security guarantees in a potential peace agreement.
Previously, Trump has repeatedly said that he can end the war within 24 hours of returning to the White House. He criticized incumbent Joe Biden for insufficient communication with Putin and the lack of effective measures to end the conflict.
