In Kharkiv, a man was detained who illegally filmed local checkpoints

In Kharkiv, law enforcement officers detained a 38-year-old man who was spreading information about the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations, which is a violation of the law under martial law. About this reported Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office. His actions were qualified under Art. 2 Art. 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for responsibility for spreading information about the location of military facilities without the permission of the competent authorities.

According to the investigation, in October of this year, a man, moving through a checkpoint in Kharkiv, took a video of military personnel performing their duties. Later, he edited the video material, adding to it the exact coordinates of the checkpoint and personal data of the military. In the created materials, the man also spread manipulative statements and accusations directed against Ukrainian defenders.

Law enforcement officers remind that the disclosure of information about military deployment locations without the official permission of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defense or other authorized bodies is strictly prohibited. Such actions pose a direct threat to national security and can be used by the enemy to plan attacks.

The detainee is in custody and is awaiting trial in the Dzerzhyn District Court of Kharkiv. If he is found guilty, he faces up to eight years in prison. Law enforcement officials urge citizens to abide by wartime laws and avoid sharing any information that could harm the country’s defense capabilities.
