From August 20, new accommodation support for IDPs and persons with disabilities with the funds of the social fund began to operate

The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine is launching an experimental project aimed at supporting internally displaced persons (IDPs) of retirement age and persons with disabilities. The project envisages the provision of inpatient care and assisted living social services to these categories based on the principle of “money follows people”.
In order to receive such support, displaced persons must apply in writing to local self-government bodies at the place of registration or residence. After concluding the contract, the Social Security Fund will transfer funds to the person’s bank card, which they can use to pay for inpatient care or assisted living services.
Ulyana Tokareva, Deputy Minister of Social Policy noted, that communities should prepare the necessary infrastructure to provide these services. According to the new format, no more than 30 people who need inpatient care should be in one institution. The Ministry of Social Policy also plans to attract international donors for the development and support of this project.
The project will be financed from the state budget, and in 2024, 366.8 million hryvnias are planned for it. These funds will be enough to provide services to more than 2,300 people in need of assistance.
