In October, 183 civilians were killed and 903 were injured due to hostilities in Ukraine

According to the UN, in October, as a result of full-scale Russian aggression in Ukraine, 183 civilians died, and another 903 people were injured. About this it is said in the UN report. Among the dead were 9 children, and 49 children were injured.
The UN report notes that Russian forces have significantly increased their drone attacks, carrying out more than 1,900 strikes on Ukrainian territory during October. As a result of these strikes or falling debris, 6 civilians were killed, and 21 people were injured.
Most of the civilian casualties (80%) occurred near the front lines due to airstrikes, artillery fire, rocket attacks and drone strikes. Kherson, Kharkiv and Donetsk regions were the most affected.
Total civilian casualties for the entire duration of the war, beginning on February 24, 2022 and ending in October 2024, are more than 12,162 dead and 26,919 wounded.
Human Rights Watch notes that at least 10,000 civilians died in Mariupol, as evacuation from there was not properly organized.
Earlier, the Head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the assessment of Ukraine’s losses: more than 100,000 military personnel and more than 20,000 civilians. However, the European Commission later admitted that these data were erroneous.
Advisor to the President’s Office, Mykhailo Podolyak, assured that the real losses among the military are significantly lower, and among civilians – significantly higher. He emphasized that the losses among the civilian population exceed the previously mentioned figure of 20,000 and may be much higher.
