Apple officially adds iPhone XS to the list of vintage devices

Apple has officially listed the iPhone XS as a vintage device, ending one of the most overlooked chapters in iPhone history. About this informsMacRumors.

According to Apple’s policy, vintage includes devices that were discontinued more than five years ago. Despite this, the repair of such models remains possible at branded Apple service centers and authorized partners, but only if spare parts are available.

The iPhone XS was introduced in September 2018 and discontinued a year later. However, thanks to sales at some retailers, it has only now received vintage status. In two years, the iPhone XS will enter the category of obsolete devices, after which official support and repairs will cease completely.

The older model, iPhone XS Max, received vintage status back in November 2024. The iPhone XS was a minor upgrade over the iPhone X. Major improvements include a more powerful A12 Bionic processor, improved cameras, and dual SIM support. The XS Max model was distinguished by an enlarged 6.5-inch display. Also, Apple transferred the fifth generation iPad, which was previously considered vintage, to the obsolete list.

In addition, the company added a note on the support page indicating that owners of the 2018 Mac mini should contact authorized service centers to clarify the status of the device. This model has already been listed as vintage, prompting questions from users and experts about the timing.
