The Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on the reform of ARMA

The Verkhovna Rada adopted a law that provides for the reform of the National Agency for Identification, Search and Management of Assets Obtained from Corruption and Other Crimes (ARMA). About this reported People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak from the “Voice” faction.

“No. 12374-d — ARMA reform adopted as a whole”, says the message.

According to the parliamentarian, 253 people’s deputies supported the draft law, which makes changes to the current legislation in order to strengthen the institutional capacity of ARMA and improve the mechanisms of asset management. The decision was made during the plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada on Wednesday.

According to draft law No. 12374-d, it is proposed to update the procedures for selecting the head and staff of the agency by including independent experts in the competition commission. An independent external system for assessing the effectiveness of ARMA’s work will also be implemented.

ARMA reform is part of Ukraine’s obligations within the framework of the Ukraine Facility plan. The government submitted a draft law, fully agreed with the European Commission, which provides for a complete reboot of the agency and its audit.

It will be recalled that on May 7, the ambassadors of the “Group of Seven” countries appealed to the Ukrainian parliament to adopt draft law No. 12374-d as soon as possible in order to strengthen the institutional basis of the Agency for Search and Asset Management (ARMA).
