In October, Ukraine reached a yearly high of $3.8 billion in goods exports

In October, Ukraine exported goods worth more than $3.8 billion, up 18.7% from September. This was a record for the whole of 2024, the press service of the Ministry of Economy reported.

According to preliminary data, since the beginning of the year, total exports have already reached almost $34.6 billion.

Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko noted that the increase in exports in October was due to an increase in the supply of agricultural products. The value of agricultural exports grew by 32.3%, while their physical volume increased by 33.8%.

This allowed us to increase the physical volume of exports to 10.9 million tonnes, which is 26.2% more than in September this year. We owe these achievements to our defenders who ensure the operation of the sea corridor despite threats from the enemy. In October, exports by sea increased by 28.2% in monetary terms and by 37.1% in weight,’ Svyrydenko said.

She added that given the current dynamics, it is possible to predict that exports in monetary terms this year may exceed last year’s $36.2 billion.

In terms of physical volumes, we have already exported more in the first ten months of 2024 than in the whole of last year. This is a preliminary 110 million tonnes in total for 10 months of this year, compared to 100 million tonnes in 2023,’ Svyrydenko said.

Taras Kachka, Ukraine’s Trade Representative and Deputy Minister of Economy, said that the largest export items in October included

  • sunflower, safflower or cottonseed oil ($447.2 million or 481.3 thousand tonnes)
  • corn ($363.6 million or 1.9 million tonnes)
  • wheat ($318.2 million or 1.6 million tonnes);
  • soya beans ($260 million or 675 thousand tonnes);
  • rapeseed ($239.2 million or 476.3 thousand tonnes);
  • iron ore and concentrates ($166.8 million or 2.5 million tonnes).
