In the Kyiv region, a man threw a grenade at police officers: five law enforcement officers were injured, the attacker died

In the Kyiv region, a man detonated a grenade when the police arrived on a domestic violence call. As a result of the explosion, five law enforcement officers were injured, and the attacker himself died. About this informs police of the Kyiv region.

According to preliminary data, an 18-year-old girl contacted the law enforcement officers and reported that her father was threatening her and her family with a grenade and a firearm in the village of Mykhailivka-Rubezhivka. Employees of the Buchansk district police department and the special unit immediately went to the scene of the incident.

During an attempt to stop the offender, the police entered the apartment. At that moment, the man activated a grenade and threw it in the direction of law enforcement officers. After the explosion, in order to stop his actions, the police opened fire on the attacker. A 41-year-old man died on the spot.

As a result of the explosion, five police officers were injured by debris. They were hospitalized for medical treatment. During the search of the house, four pistols, a pyrotechnic grenade, a hunting rifle and a knife were seized.

Investigators opened criminal proceedings under Articles 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) and 348 (assault on the life of a law enforcement officer) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. SBI employees continue to work at the scene of the incident.
