The Ministry of Defense prevented the delivery of about 340 tons of products for the military

During inspections in military units, it was not allowed to provide personnel with food products, the total weight of which is 16,419 kg.

During June, the Ministry of Defense prevented the delivery of almost 340 tons of low-quality and dangerous products to the Ukrainian military. It is about this in messages on the department’s website.

It is noted that according to the results of inspections of business entities before delivery to military units, food products with a total weight of 321,787 kg were rejected by experts of the Department of Food Safety and Veterinary Medicine. Already during the inspections in the military units, it was not allowed to provide the personnel with food products with a total weight of 16,419 kg.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the products were not allowed for deliveries to the Armed Forces due to non-compliance with regulatory documents – State Standards of Ukraine (DSTU) and technical conditions (TU); or due to the lack of documents certifying quality and safety.

The list of other reasons for non-admission includes non-compliance with labeling requirements or its absence, expiration of the product’s expiration date. The Ministry of Defense reminded that, according to Ukrainian legislation, products with at least one of the listed violations are considered dangerous.

The department also added that the Department of Food Safety and Veterinary Medicine constantly checks the quality and safety indicators of food products centrally supplied for the needs of the Armed Forces.
