Terrible conditions and numerous violations of their rights were discovered in the hospital of the village of Volovets in Transcarpathia, where servicemen are treated. About this informs Representation of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights in Zakarpattia Oblast. Unsatisfactory conditions of servicemen’s stay, problems with food, as well as failure to implement the state program of free dentures were recorded in the institution.

Back in September of this year, representatives of the ombudsman inspected this hospital. Violations found included inadequate nutrition, poor ward conditions and lack of adequate access to free treatment and dental prostheses for military personnel. At that time, the management of the community and the hospital promised to solve the problems in two months, in particular, to repair two wards, provide quality food and proper medical care.

However, during the repeated monitoring conducted on December 13, it became clear that the situation has not changed. Patients continue to buy medicines at their own expense, although some of these medicines are included in the National List of Essential Medicines and should be provided free of charge. In addition, servicemen are still forced to stay in dilapidated wards, and the free dental prosthesis program is not functioning.

The representative of the ombudsman called on the management of the community and the medical institution to immediately take measures to ensure proper conditions for patients.

This is not the only case of violation of the rights of servicemen in medical institutions. Earlier, combat medic Petro Konoplia announced a hunger strike due to unsatisfactory conditions in Odesa Regional Psychiatric Hospital No. 2. The inspection confirmed that the conditions of stay in this institution are completely unsatisfactory and do not meet the established standards.
