“Servant of the People” spoke about the expediency of a telethon in Ukraine

People's deputy Nikita Poruraev believes that now the telethon does not justify the funding allocated for it.

The feasibility of the telethon raises valid questions, and it is necessary to seek a solution before considering the issue of continuing its funding. About this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine reported Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, MP from “Servant of the People” Mykyta Poturaev.

Poturaev noted that, in his opinion, the telethon currently does not justify the money spent on it.

He also drew attention to the National Public Television and Radio Company of Ukraine (NSTU), which has a significant budget and is a source of verified information. However, mistakes and deviations from absolute political neutrality occur even in NSTU.

“But such cases happen everywhere, even at the BBC. Everyone who works in the media has his own tastes, preferences and vision of the situation. A certain personal lens is always present, and that’s normal.”, – added Poturaev.

Commenting on the issue of political neutrality on the telethon, Poturaev said that he does not support the distortion of this principle. However, at the moment, the marathon consists of private manufacturers, to whom no one can dictate the observance of absolute political neutrality. Such “distortions” cause comments from Western partners.

“It is necessary to find a solution to ensure high quality and political neutrality of the content that is financed with public funds”Poturaev emphasized.
