Journalist and volunteer Oleksandr Lapshin was found dead in Kharkiv

Oleksandr Lapshin, a 42-year-old journalist and volunteer, was found dead in Kharkiv.
It informs Public, referring to the words of Serhiy Bolvinov, the head of the investigative department of the police of the Kharkiv region. However, there are no official announcements on this matter.

The law enforcement officer said that on May 30, the police received a statement from relatives about Oleksandr’s disappearance, after which the investigation began. On June 29, law enforcement officers received information from a passer-by who found the body of a man on a rope with signs of suicide in Sortirovka district.

“Of course, we had to establish the identity of the deceased, because this man had been there for a long time, and it was impossible to visually confirm who this person was. There was a note in his pocket, but it was impossible to read it because of the heat. It was probably a suicide note.” – said Bolvinov.

Since the body had been lying for a long time, it was impossible to identify it, so DNA research was used for this.

“The official cause of death will be determined after the forensic medical examination, however we have reason to believe that the person whose body was found in the landing committed suicide,” – noted Bolvinov.

Oleksandr Humanyuk, the head of the search and rescue unit of the public organization “Rose on the Hand”, said that Lapshin’s body was found approximately one and a half kilometers from his place of residence. Prior to that, volunteers and concerned citizens combed the area around the journalist’s house and already had time to inspect part of it.
