Ukraine appealed to international partners to prevent North Korean military units from participating in the Russian occupation forces on the battlefield. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiga, during a joint briefing with the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Jean-Noel Barro, in Kyiv.
Sybiga emphasized that the participation of the North Korean military creates a serious threat of further escalation of Russian aggression against Ukraine. According to him, this significantly increases the risk of expanding the scope of the conflict.
“We are not talking about mercenaries, it is very important to understand the difference, but we are talking about military units of North Korea, which will be involved and will fight on the side of the army of the Russian aggressor against Ukraine”, – emphasized the minister.
He also noted that this is a new and dangerous reality that requires a strong international response.
“We call on our partners to immediately and decisively react to these actions and prevent their implementation”, – said Sybiga.
We will remind, earlier the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov said that about 11,000 North Korean soldiers are undergoing training in the east of Russia. It is expected that they will be ready for combat operations in Ukraine by November 1.
Military expert Pavlo Narozhnyi expressed the opinion that North Korea can organize the systematic dispatch of its soldiers to Russia, if the first group of soldiers shows high efficiency in battles. He noted that more than 100,000 North Korean troops are needed to significantly influence the course of the war.
