Law enforcement officers exposed a reserve lieutenant colonel who spied in Sumy region on behalf of the FSB

The law enforcement officers exposed a reserve lieutenant colonel, a former serviceman of the Defense Forces, who was spying in the Sumy region on the orders of the FSB. About this informs press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Prosecutors established that the former soldier agreed to cooperate with the enemy after his release from service and began collecting intelligence on the location of Ukrainian units fighting on the front lines. He was officially charged with suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 and Part 2 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
With a military rank and combat experience, the man used the trust of his former comrades to obtain the necessary information. In addition, he contributed to the creation of a new agent network in the border areas, which involved both current and former military personnel.
The suspect is currently in custody. If found guilty, he faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property. The investigation in the case is conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Sumy region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s office.
We remind you that according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and confirmed by a court verdict.
