Luxury apartments, expensive vacations: the luxurious life of customs employees

“Investigation.Info” published a high-profile investigation that exposes the discrepancy between the luxurious lifestyle and the officially declared income of three young employees of the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
Among the persons involved in the investigation:
- Sofiya Krikunova: 22-year-old inspector of Odesa Customs, who owns real estate worth 9 million hryvnias and received a generous gift from her father, while her official salary is only 34 thousand hryvnias. She actively demonstrates expensive brands and vacations in luxury hotels on social networks.
- Serafima Dumitru: 23-year-old chief inspector of Chernivtsi customs, who has not declared any assets, but poses on social networks with branded accessories and Mercedes. Her father is the archpriest of the UOC MP, and her husband is a deacon.
- Anna Asanova: inspector of the Kharkiv Customs, who did not indicate the amount of her salary in the declaration, but declared an apartment for 3.5 million hryvnias and two expensive cars, claiming that she received them as a gift.
The journalists also discovered that a relative of one of the customs officials visited the occupied Crimea. The State Customs Service, in response to the journalists’ request, stated that it checks only the fact of submission of declarations, not their content.
