Mass poisoning near Shypit waterfall: 38 people fell ill with intestinal infection

In the Zakarpattia region, near the Shipit waterfall, where the participants of the informal youth festival traditionally gather, a massive outbreak of acute intestinal infection was recorded. By information Zakarpattia Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the infection was detected in 38 people.

Out of the total number of patients, 28 people were festival participants who lived in a tent town near the waterfall. Another 10 victims are tourists who came on an excursion to this natural attraction. Doctors report that the vast majority of patients have a course of the disease of moderate severity.

At the same time, it is noted that all patients are under medical supervision and receive the necessary treatment. No serious complications or deaths have been reported at this time.

Experts suggest that the source of the infection could be the water from the waterfall, which visitors used for drinking and cooking. Currently, a sanitary-epidemiological investigation and monitoring of contact persons is ongoing.

The Shipit Waterfall Festival, which dates back to 1993, traditionally gathers representatives of informal youth movements, tourists, travelers and hippies from various regions.
