An EU digital identity wallet will be launched in Ukraine by the end of 2026
By the end of 2026, Ukraine will join the European Digital Identification Wallet (EUDI), which will allow receiving public and private services without being tied to borders. About this reported Ministry of Digital Transformation.
“The European digital identity wallet will be launched by the end of 2026 — Ukraine has successfully passed the test”, – the message says.
For the first time, the Ministry of Digitization held a meeting with representatives of the “Potential” consortium to check the compatibility of electronic documents with prototypes of digital European wallets. Ukrainian developers tested how documents in the “Diya” application work together with mobile services of EU countries.
As the department explained, EUDI will be useful in everyday life abroad: for registering a SIM card, opening a bank account or using digital documents in the phone. After the implementation of the system, Ukrainians will be able to use digital documents outside the country, and Europeans – within Ukraine.
Adaptation to “EU Digital Identity Wallet” standards is carried out with the support of the European Union within the framework of the “DT4UA” project. It is implemented by the Estonian eGovernance Academy.
