“Men of Steel”: a film about the heroic defense of Mariupol presented in Kyiv

The film “Men of Steel” tells the true story of the heroic defense of Mariupol, held by Ukrainian defenders from February to May 2022, as well as the struggle of their relatives to free their relatives from captivity. In the tape, the defenders of Mariupol and their loved ones share their own experiences and recreate events that have become a symbol of courage and resilience.
“Men of Steel” is about spirit, responsibility, honesty and truth. And this truth – about Russian war crimes in Ukraine, about the heroism and courage of our people – the “Men of Steel” – should be seen and heard by people all over the world! To keep the focus of attention on Ukraine every day, to do everything possible and impossible to free our heroes from the hell of captivity. “Men of Steel” has its own mission and goal – to help free our people from captivity. This is a special purpose film”, – said the film’s director, Serhiy Fomenko.
One of the key goals of the film is to mobilize the international community to support the process of freeing Ukrainian prisoners of war. The film has already been shown in Strasbourg and during the Olympic Games in Paris, drawing attention to the fate of the defenders of Mariupol.
As noted by Tetyana Kuhotska, secretary of the Supervisory Board of “Heart of Azovstal”, the organization actively supports advocacy activities to promote the release of Mariupol defenders. She emphasized the importance of the film, which should help the international community learn more about the feat of Ukrainian heroes and the conditions in which they are held captive.
“We need as many words, films, exhibitions, other events as possible so that more people know and remember what our defenders have to go through in enemy captivity”, – she noted.
The plans of the creators of the film include a series of screenings in the USA, Europe and Great Britain, as well as placing the tape on international streaming platforms such as Netflix, and rental in cinemas in Ukraine.
