Men who stole a golden toilet from Blenheim Palace are on trial in Britain

The trial of three men accused of stealing an 18-karat gold toilet worth about $6 million has begun in the Oxford Court of Great Britain. The crime took place in September 2019, when attackers took a toilet from Blenheim Palace, informs Associated Press.
The art object known as “America” is the work of Italian conceptual artist Maurizio Cattelan. It was part of an exhibition at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, the birthplace of Winston Churchill.
The golden toilet weighed 98 kilograms, and its insurance value was 6 million dollars. At the same time, the market price of the gold itself, from which it was made, was estimated at 3.4 million dollars in 2019.
The investigators never managed to find the stolen exhibit. According to their version, the attackers sawed it and sold it in parts. Charges were brought against three people: Michael Jones and two of his accomplices who helped sell the stolen item. Currently, all three deny their involvement in the crime.
