Mobile pharmacy routes cover over 1,000 settlements: Ministry of Health

Routes of mobile pharmacies in Ukraine already cover more than 1,000 settlements. As of May 2025, there are 29 mobile pharmacy points operating in 17 regions in the country, with one more being prepared for launch in the near future. About this informs press office of the Ministry of Health.

Predominantly, pharmacy cars go to settlements where there is no stationary pharmacy – we are talking about remote communities, frontline areas and villages with limited access to medical infrastructure.

“We launched the first mobile pharmacy in January 2024 – from one route in the Kharkiv region. Today, their routes cover more than 1,000 settlements – thousands of people who got real access to medicines where there was no pharmacy before. In wartime, a mobile pharmacy is not just a point of sale. It is a point of trust, stability and care for people in communities. In such pharmacies, you can buy both prescription and over-the-counter drugs, including drugs under the “Affordable Medicines” program, which allows people to save money and, most importantly, not interrupt treatment.

We will continue to develop this network – where it is really needed. And for this, we need the active participation of communities and the pharmacy business — the state has already created the necessary conditions, and now it is important that these initiatives are actively implemented on the ground.”, — emphasized the Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko.

The routes in the Kharkiv, Kyiv, Cherkasy and Chernihiv regions have the greatest coverage. It is in these regions that the largest number of mobile pharmacies also operate — three in each region. Both state and private operators joined the initiative: 14 pharmacies work on the basis of communal and state institutions, another 15 are served by private structures.

Thanks to this system, more than 70,000 patients have already gained access to medicines. According to the State Service for Medicinal Products, more than 4,000 electronic prescriptions were filled in mobile pharmacies within the framework of the “Affordable Medicines” program. Most often, people apply for means to normalize pressure, heart drugs, painkillers, vitamins and drugs for the digestive system.

Pharmacists in mobile pharmacies not only dispense medicines, but also provide basic consultations, support local residents and, if necessary, bring the necessary drugs for individual orders. Pharmacy cars are equipped according to standards: refrigerators, specialized cabinets for storing medicines are installed inside, and the temperature regime during transportation is ensured.
