“Stand up, the president is talking to you”: a dispute broke out in court between Poroshenko and the prosecutor in the Chervinskyi case (video)

The prosecution did not want to accept the People's Deputy's offer to take the former spy on bail.

During the court session in the case of ex-intelligence officer Roman Chervinskyi, the leader of the “European Solidarity” party, Petro Poroshenko, announced his intention to take the accused on bail. However, the prosecution refused to take into account this statement, which caused an argument in the courtroom.

During the conflict, one of the attendees unexpectedly called Poroshenko the president of Ukraine, which caused surprise and further discussion among the meeting participants. Poroshenko, who served as president of Ukraine from 2014 to 2019, actively supports Roman Chervinsky.

The court session attracted a lot of public attention, as Chervinskyi’s case is high-profile and causes a lot of controversy. Roman Chervinskyi, a former intelligence officer, is accused of violations related to official activities.

Poroshenko said that he is ready to take responsibility for Chervinskyi’s behavior during the investigation and trial. He emphasized the importance of a fair trial and protection of the rights of the accused. However, the prosecutor’s office did not consider this proposal, stressing the need to comply with procedure and legality.

Earlier it became known that Roman Chervinsky will be released on bail. All 27 people’s deputies from the “European Solidarity” faction expressed their readiness to take the ex-intelligence officer as bail. Petro Poroshenko, the leader of the faction, after the court’s decision to set bail, declared his readiness to pay the required amount.

The next day, Poroshenko released a document confirming the deposit of 9 million hryvnias. This move underlines the support that European Solidarity gives to Roman Chervinsky and their confidence in his innocence.
