More than 70 citizens received the status of corruption whistleblowers: NACP

Today, 72 people have the official status of corruption whistleblowers. This was reported by the press service of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NACP) in its publications on Facebook.
“In October, the Ukrainian whistleblower institute received a powerful impetus for further development: for the first time in the country’s history, corruption whistleblowers received rewards. In total, 72 people currently have whistleblower status, and more than 4,100 whistleblower reports have been sent to the Unified whistleblower reporting portal“, the message says.
NAZK also notes that according to the results poll “The State of Corruption in Ukraine 2023: Perceptions, Experiences, Attitudes” the level of support of citizens reporting corruption increased from 71% in 2021 to 81% in 2023.
According to the Law “On Prevention of Corruption”, a whistleblower can only be a natural person who reports the facts of corruption, and not other violations, for example, of labor legislation. The information must be known to the whistleblower as a result of his work or professional activity.
NAZK also emphasizes that the status of a whistleblower provides special legal protection, different from the status of an applicant. If the conditions for obtaining whistleblower status are not met, the person will be considered a whistleblower under the law, but the legal protection will be different.
One of the main safe channels for whistleblowers is the Single Whistleblower Reporting Portal, which you can work with methodological recommendations, developed by the agency.
