NABU detectives are “stressed” by war, bureaucracy and need to talk to a psychologist: audit findings

The results of the audit of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, conducted by independent foreign experts, revealed signs of low morale among anti-corruption officers and a mass desire to resign from the bureau. “Too many levels of management, over-bureaucratization of certain processes, lack of opportunities for professional development through promotion to higher positions or salary increases, substandard working conditions, technical work that takes up a lot of detectives’ time, and other factors put pressure on employee morale.” , the report says.

It is also noted that the auditors have already indicated the existence of these problems in their previous reports.

Some of the senior detectives resigned from NABU, and an anonymous survey of the staff shows that many employees intend to leave the organization in the next 2-3 years.

Last week, NABU head Semyon Krivonos refused to participate in a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada committee on anti-corruption policy, as they planned to hear a report on the progress of the investigation into the leak of information from NABU. The head of the anti-corruption committee, Anastasia Radina, claims that the reason for the NABU director’s refusal to come to the committee may be the publication of a new journalistic investigation about the likelihood of leaks of information with the direct participation of Kryvonos.

In the end, the members of the anti-corruption committee decided to hold an on-site meeting at NABU.
