NABU explained who will conduct polygraph tests for bureau detectives under Zelensky’s new bill

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau explained that according to the provisions of the presidential draft law No. 13533, the polygraph check will be conducted by the Bureau’s Internal Control Department, not the Security Service of Ukraine. About this reported NABU press office.
“The draft law, which is supposed to eliminate threats to the independence of anti-corruption bodies, provides, in particular, for the passing of a polygraph by NABU employees who have access to state secrets. These checks are proposed to be carried out by NABU’s UEC.” – stated in the department.
They emphasized that the use of a polygraph in such cases is an established internal practice of the Bureau. Employees undergo a polygraph during official investigations, appointments and reassignments. It is not an innovation, but a tool of internal integrity, they explained. As specified by the department, in 2024 the UVC conducted more than 200 psychophysiological surveys of NABU employees using a polygraph.
“It is important that the methodology of such inspections, approved by NABU and the SBU, excludes the risks of interference in operational activities or pressure on employees.” – summarized in NABU.
We will remind you that on the evening of July 24, draft law No. 13533 on expanding the powers of NABU and SAP, initiated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, was registered on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.
