New mobile scanners will be installed at checkpoints with Romania, Slovakia and Moldova

Five new mobile X-ray scanners will start working at the border checkpoints of Ukraine with Slovakia, Romania and Moldova. They were handed over by the USAID project “Economic Support of Ukraine” to improve the efficiency of customs control. About this informs State Customs Service.
“This equipment will significantly reduce the time of customs clearance of vehicles and contribute to the minimization of the human factor”, – says the message.
In the near future, two scanners will be installed at the Porubne-Siret checkpoint on the border with Romania and Uzhgorod-Vyshnye Nemetske on the border with Slovakia. In January 2025, the third scanner will be placed at the Orlivka-Isaccia ferry crossing on the border with Romania, which is an important trade route to Southern Europe and Turkey.
Two more scanners are scheduled to be installed in April 2025. They will appear at the checkpoints “Reni-Giurgiulesti” on the border with Moldova and “Diacove-Halmeu” on the border with Romania. The new equipment will allow inspection of vehicles and cargo using high-energy X-rays without the need to open luggage or cars. This approach significantly reduces the time of procedures and helps to increase turnover.
