New protests against the policy of rapprochement with Russia took place in Slovakia

Thousands of people protested in Bratislava and other Slovak cities, demanding that Prime Minister Robert Fico stop the policy of rapprochement with Russia. About this informs Reuters.

Currently, protests have been taking place every two weeks since early January. They began after Fico’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, prompting Slovaks to protest a foreign policy that is bringing the country closer to Russia and demand a change of course.

The demonstrators chanted “Slovakia is Europe!” and “Enough Fitzo!”. According to the estimates of a security expert, up to 12,000 people came out to protest in Bratislava. Actions were also held in more than 40 other cities.

We will remind that on January 24 in the capital of Slovakia, about 60,000 people gathered in the central square to demand Fico’s resignation. On February 7, protests flared up with new force – tens of thousands of demonstrators in Bratislava again spoke out against the prime minister’s policies, which they consider to be pro-Russian.
