New rules for receiving unemployment benefits are being prepared for Ukrainians: what amounts are provided

New rules for receiving unemployment benefits are being prepared for Ukrainians: what amounts are provided The State Employment Center considers it a "luxury" to pay benefits to the unemployed throughout the year.

After the end of the war in Ukraine, the rules for unemployment benefits may change. Director of the State Employment Center, Yuliya Zhovtyak, said that providing benefits to the unemployed for a year, as it was before the introduction of martial law, is a “luxury” for the country.

During a meeting with business representatives, Zhovtyak noted that the country cannot afford for people to receive unemployment benefits for a whole year without looking for a job. She stressed that during wartime payments are only given for three months, and after the war, the possibility of amending the law is being considered so as not to return to long-term payments.

According to Zhovtyak, many Ukrainians do not show motivation for the offered vacancies, which are selected by the employment service. She believes that this is often done in order to receive a “mark” that the candidate did not suit the employer in order to continue receiving payments from the state.

Zhovtyak also emphasized that the goal of the employment center staff is to select such candidates who meet the employer’s requirements by 80%. She noted that employment centers should send motivated people to work who understand all the possibilities and do not waste time.
