Poland and Slovakia will help Ukraine in the development of the Carpathian region

Poland and Slovakia will support Ukraine in the implementation of reconstruction and development projects in the Carpathian region. About this reported The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development based on the results of the first constituent meeting of the Ukrainian-Polish-Slovak Carpathian Initiative.

The Carpathian initiative is aimed at the development of a strategic partnership between Slovakia, Poland and Ukraine in the restoration, regional integration and economic development of the Carpathian region, which includes the Zakarpattia and Lviv regions of Ukraine, the Koshytskyi and Pryasivskyi self-governing regions of Slovakia, as well as the Podkarpackie Voivodeship of Poland.

“One of our priorities is strengthening the economic potential of the regions. That is why we are interested in cooperation focused on the joint implementation of strategic infrastructure, energy, and social and humanitarian projects.”, – explained Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Maryna Denysiuk.

Among the main tasks are expansion of economic opportunities, improvement of logistics, creation of new jobs, business support and attraction of international investments.

We will remind that the Carpathian initiative was launched at the proposal of Slovakia in November last year. Financing of the initiative is provided at the expense of European Union funds, other international financial mechanisms and private sector investments.
