Poland did not want to see the representative of Hungary at the ceremony of the beginning of its presidency of the EU

Poland decided not to invite the Hungarian ambassador to a solemn event on Friday, January 3, dedicated to the start of the country’s presidency in the European Union. About this informs Reuters.
The decision is related to the fact that Hungary granted asylum to Marcin Romanowski, a former deputy from the “Law and Justice” party, which was previously in power in Poland.
According to Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka, the Polish Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban also did not receive an invitation to the ceremony, which will be held at the Bolshoi Theater in Warsaw.
“When we invited guests to our event almost a month ago, we invited the entire diplomatic corps. But after the situation with Romanovsky, Foreign Minister Sikorsky decided that the Hungarian ambassador is not a welcome guest in the theater today.” – she noted.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and European Council President Antonio Kosta are scheduled to speak at the opening ceremony of the Polish presidency in the EU.
