The G7 countries signed a declaration of support for the recovery of Ukraine
The leaders of the G7 countries signed a declaration confirming their strong support for Ukraine both during the war and in the process of its reconstruction after the end of the conflict. This was reported by the White House.
The document emphasizes the need for coordinated actions by international partners to provide military, humanitarian and financial assistance to Ukraine against the background of ongoing aggression from Russia. The leaders of the G7 countries emphasized the importance of joint efforts in ensuring economic stability, restoring critical infrastructure, and maintaining Ukraine’s social stability.
According to the communique, the G7 undertakes to contribute to the economic stabilization of Ukraine, in particular, at the expense of macro-financial assistance, the restoration of infrastructure facilities and the implementation of key reforms. Special emphasis will be placed on improving the business climate and fighting corruption, which are important elements for the sustainable development of the country.
The declaration also states that Russia should bear responsibility for the damage caused, in accordance with international law. Assets that are currently frozen will remain blocked until the Russian Federation fulfills its obligations. By the end of the year, 50 billion dollars of additional financing will be allocated for Ukraine in the form of loans, which will be serviced at the expense of income from Russian assets.
The G7 countries are also working on creating a strategy for coordinating support for Ukraine’s economic recovery through the Ukrainian Donor Platform. An important component of this initiative is to ensure an inclusive approach to recovery that takes into account the needs of vulnerable populations.
“Our message is clear: we remain committed to the strategic goal of a free, independent, democratic and sovereign Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders that is prosperous and able to defend itself.”, – stated in the declaration.
