Poland urged its citizens to leave Russia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland called on its citizens to leave the territory of the Russian Federation. Adequate warning made public on the official website of the country’s government.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends completely refraining from traveling to Russia in view of the war in Ukraine and the official recognition of Poland as an unfriendly state by the Russian authorities.
“Citizens of Poland living in Russia are advised to leave its territory by available commercial and private means, if their life, family or professional circumstances do not require them to stay there.” – the statement emphasizes.
The agency added that due to the constant reduction in the number of diplomatic and consular staff of Poland in Russia, in particular due to the closure of consulates in Kaliningrad and St. Petersburg, the provision of consular assistance is becoming more and more difficult. It can be obtained only in limited cases, sometimes with the need to travel to very distant diplomatic institutions.
“In the event of a sharp deterioration of the security situation, closure of borders or other unforeseen circumstances, evacuation may be much more difficult or even impossible”, – emphasized the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Citizens of Poland, who also have Russian citizenship, were separately warned. According to Russian legislation, such persons are recognized exclusively as citizens of the Russian Federation, and therefore they can be called up to the ranks of the Russian army.
The ministry also reminded that in Russia there is a strict ban on taking pictures of objects related to state security, including police stations, airports, military facilities and other state institutions. Violation of this prohibition may result in criminal prosecution.
