Polish farmers blocked the Medyka-Shehyni checkpoint on the border with Ukraine (video)

On Saturday, November 23, Polish farmers staged a protest near the “Medyka-Sheghini” checkpoint on the border with the Lviv region. About 30 people are involved in the action, who are moving along the pedestrian crossing with flags. This is reported RMF24.
Farmers blocked the national road No. 28, preventing the passage of trucks from Ukraine. Trucks heading to Ukraine are allowed through only one per hour. At the same time, cars, buses and humanitarian trucks move freely. The police provide alternative traffic through national roads #77 and #28, as well as detours within Medica.
The protest was organized for two main reasons:
- Failure to comply with the requirement to maintain the level of the agricultural tax for 2024 at the level of 2023.
- Concern over the possible signing by the EU of a free trade agreement with MERCOSUR countries (Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay).
The Ukrainian State Border Service has warned about traffic restrictions through the “Medyka-Sheghini” checkpoint. According to their data, the promotion will last 48 hours with the possibility of extension.
“Currently, there is no accumulation of trucks in front of the checkpoint for departure from Ukraine. There are about 150 trucks for entry into Ukraine.” – noted in the DPSU.
It is reported that vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tons will not be allowed into Poland, and trucks leaving Poland will be allowed at the rate of one per hour. Restrictions do not apply to passenger cars and buses.
