Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said that Russia would not be able to continue the war against Ukraine without support from China, and China should take responsibility for ending this conflict. IN interview for The Washington Post, Sikorsky emphasized that China plays a key role in supporting the Russian military machine, providing the necessary components and materials.
“Putin would not be able to wage this war without components and materials from China. So China could stop this war. And it should.”, – he is convinced.
Sikorsky noted that Beijing’s political and economic support gives Russia the opportunity to continue its aggression. According to him, China has considerable influence and, if desired, could make efforts to end the war. He called on the international community to increase pressure on Beijing to force it to take a more proactive stance on resolving the conflict.
The minister also emphasized that the victory of Ukraine is important not only for the country itself, but also for promoting changes in Russia. Sikorsky compared the current situation with previous wars in which Russia was defeated, which led to internal reforms in the country.
“Putin is a dictator. He will be restrained by our power, not by his own doctrines. No one is planning any aggression against Russia. It is Russia that is the aggressor. It is Russia that invaded Ukraine. Putin feels safe throwing all his forces into the war against Ukraine, because he knows that NATO is a purely defensive alliance”Sikorsky summarized.
