Private companies are entering the market of rocket production in Ukraine: Ministry of Strategy and Industry
Over the past year, the number of private manufacturers of heavy weapons and equipment has significantly increased in the defense-industrial complex of Ukraine. For the first time in the country’s history, private companies began to engage in the production of rockets, which was previously exclusively the responsibility of state-owned enterprises. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine Hanna Gvozdyar at the Defense Tech Valley investment forum.
“Traditional “defense”, like defense tech, is also moving. Over the last year, we have had a lot of private manufacturers of heavy weapons and equipment. For example, in terms of the number of artillery systems produced per month, we have become the first in the world.”, – noted Hvozdyar.
In addition, the number of private manufacturers of armored vehicles is actively growing in Ukraine. Some of these companies have already reached a production capacity of 3 units of equipment per month.
“Also, rocket manufacturers appeared on the private market, which had never happened before. The missile program was closed and only state enterprises were engaged in it. And today there is a private market here. I consider this a big step forward.”, – added the deputy minister.
According to Gvozdyar, the state actively supports such projects, providing manufacturers with the necessary assistance with the supply of specific components, as well as technical documentation left over from Soviet times. In addition, the government is helping to establish partnerships between private and public enterprises with expertise in weapons production.
