Putin announced the creation of a buffer zone on the border with Ukraine: the Foreign Ministry reacted

Vladimir Putin said that the Russian army is allegedly carrying out the task of creating a “buffer zone” on the border with Ukraine. To this statement reacted Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

“I already said that a decision was made to create the necessary security buffer zone along the border. Our Armed Forces are actively suppressing the enemy’s firing points, the work is underway”Putin said.

According to him, the Russian military is already implementing this plan. The President of the Russian Federation did not provide any details regarding the “buffer zone”.

The position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine was announced by the spokesman of the department, Heorhiy Tykhiy:

“But specifically now, at a time when the United States of America, European partners, Ukraine are calling for a peace process, for a complete long-term cease-fire for 30 days or more, such statements from Putin are very revealing. They demonstrate to the whole world that this person is the only reason or, as they say, the root cause of this war and the only reason why this war is still going on.”

Tychy emphasized that these statements are direct evidence that it is Putin and Russia who are currently blocking peace initiatives, and it is they who should be pressured by all available means to force the Russian Federation and Putin to peace and a sustainable, full ceasefire.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiga, also commented on the statement of the President of the Russian Federation:

“I remind the world that Putin’s ‘buffer zone’ statements come amid active efforts to achieve a full and lasting ceasefire, stop the killing and promote peace. These new aggressive statements clearly reject peace efforts and show that Putin has been and remains the sole reason for the continued killing. He needs to face more pressure to end this war.”
