Rehabilitation monoservice will be introduced in Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution on the introduction of a new format of rehabilitation assistance – monoservice. About this reported Ministry of Health.
Under this approach, specialists such as physical therapists, occupational therapists, or speech and language therapists will be able to provide care separately from rehabilitation teams, either independently or in collaboration with family physicians. The new format provides for the provision of services in outpatient settings, at the patient’s home or directly in the community where he lives.
“In this way, patients will be able to receive outpatient rehabilitation care faster and closer to home, which will allow them not only to continue recovery after discharge from the hospital, but also to study or work at the same time. Hospitals will focus on more complex cases, which will reduce the burden on inpatients.” – explained Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko.
If rehabilitation services are provided at the primary level of medical care, drawing up an individual plan will not be mandatory – a referral from a family doctor is sufficient. The Ministry of Health will also approve the list of health conditions for which rehabilitation specialists will be able to independently provide care at the primary level upon referral by a family doctor.
