Russia calls on Ukraine to “clear obstacles” to negotiations

On April 22, the Russian Federation again announced its alleged readiness for negotiations with Ukraine. Press Secretary Dmytro Peskov said that Kyiv must “legally clear the obstacles” in order to start a dialogue. This is reported by RosZMI.

Russia once again declared its readiness for the negotiation process, setting a precondition on the part of Ukraine. Peskov emphasized that Kyiv must take certain legal steps for this.

“If Ukraine is willing and open, Kyiv should take steps that will legally clear obstacles to negotiations with Russia,” — noted the Kremlin spokesman, commenting on Vladimir Putin’s statement about the possibility of discussing a moratorium on strikes on civilian infrastructure.

He also emphasized that the President of the Russian Federation has repeatedly spoken about “openness to negotiations”, and his latest statement is yet another confirmation of this position.

The day before, Peskov also commented on the idea of a peace agreement between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, expressed by US President Donald Trump. According to the Kremlin spokesman, Russia remains “open to finding a peaceful settlement.”

We will remind that on April 19, Putin announced the so-called “Easter truce”, which, according to him, was supposed to last from 18:00 on April 19 to 00:00 on April 21. He claimed that he had ordered a cessation of hostilities for that period. Despite this, hostilities at the front did not stop, although a certain decrease in the intensity of shelling was recorded. After the end of the truce, Russia accused Ukraine of violating it.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that Ukrainian troops allegedly continued shelling, in particular, carried out artillery strikes and used drones against Russian positions.
