President Biden announces $2.5 billion in military aid to Ukraine

On December 30, US President Joe Biden announced the provision of security assistance to Ukraine in the amount of almost 2.5 billion dollars. About this it is said in a statement from the White House.

“Today, I am proud to announce the allocation of nearly $2.5 billion in security assistance to Ukraine as the Ukrainian people continue to defend their independence and freedom from Russian aggression.” Biden noted.

The new aid package includes funds both for immediate use at the front and for long-term strengthening of Ukraine’s defense capabilities. Among the equipment provided are air defense systems, artillery installations and other important types of weapons.

According to the President of the United States, $1.25 billion of the allocated amount is earmarked for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and another $1.22 billion is earmarked for the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). Biden announced that the Pentagon has already used all the funds allocated by Congress for the USAI program in April. Hundreds of thousands of artillery shells, thousands of rockets and hundreds of armored vehicles are currently being delivered. This should strengthen the position of Ukraine on the eve of winter.
