The Czech Republic allocates 750,000 euros for the development of the forest industry in Ukraine

Ukraine will receive significant assistance from the Czech Republic to modernize forestry and bring it up to European standards.
About this reported Viktor Smal, head of the State Agency of Forest Resources of Ukraine.
“Czech-Ukrainian partnership reaches a new level. We are starting a joint project to strengthen the potential of Ukraine in the field of forest monitoring, in accordance with European standards”, – said in his message.
The project “Strengthening the potential of Ukraine in the field of forest monitoring to bring it in line with EU standards” provides for the allocation of 750,000 euros for the following purposes:
- Development of software for data collection during forest management using Earth Remote Sensing (EAR) methods and data processing, including COPERNICUS and LANDSAT satellite data.
- Equipment of DZZ/GIS workplaces on the basis of VO “Ukrderzhlisproekt” (computer equipment and training of specialists).
- Creation of a specialized audience for DZZ/GIS on the basis of NUBiP (computer equipment and updating of educational modules).
It is noted that the next step will be the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the State Forestry Agency, the Ukrainian Research Institute of Forestry and Agromelioration named after AHEM. Vysotskyi, VO “Ukrderzhlisproekt”, the National University of Bioresources and Nature Management of Ukraine and the Forestry Institute of the Czech Republic.
