Russia receives military aid from North Korea: thousands of recruits are preparing to deploy

The North Korean military is undergoing training on the territory of Russia, and by the end of the year, thousands of soldiers from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea may be sent to the front in Ukraine. About this reported the Washington Post, citing a Ukrainian military intelligence officer who shared the information on condition of anonymity.
According to him, officers from North Korea are already in the territories of Ukraine occupied by Russia. They observe the actions of Russian troops and analyze the situation on the battlefield. However, the Ukrainian military has not yet encountered North Korean units that would directly participate in hostilities.
The source notes that it is currently unknown where exactly on the front these units, which are being trained in Russia, can be deployed. One of the possible scenarios is their use in the border regions of Russia to free up Russian troops for active participation in hostilities in Ukraine.
“This could significantly affect the situation, especially if Russian reserves are released for combat operations”, — noted the Ukrainian scout.
In 2022, Ukrainian intelligence reported the arrival of a limited contingent of North Korean troops, including engineering units, in the occupied territories of Ukraine. There was also information that six officers from North Korea were among those killed as a result of a rocket attack near temporarily occupied Donetsk.
In August, the strategic communications coordinator of the US National Security Council, John Kirby, warned that Russia’s military cooperation with North Korea poses a threat not only to Ukraine, but also to the countries of the Pacific region.
